Vigil to End Violence Against Sex Workers in New York City
December 17th, 7-8pm in the center of Washington Square Park

6pm Public Vigil at El Tiradito Shrine (356 S. Main, near corner of Cushing St.)

The Sex Workers’ Outreach Project of Tucson, the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault, Wingspan LGBT Community Center, and the Women’s Resource Center of the University of Arizona are co-sponsoring this year’s events. The public vigil will include music and spoken word performance, and all are welcome to join us.

Los Angeles:
SWOP-Los Angeles is holding an small event and building an altar somewhere on Figueroa Streets in South Central LA to honor the fallen sisters of the Grim Sleeper serial killer from the neighborhood. Call 1-877-776-2004 x5 for exact location and more details.

Meet at 7:00 to make signs and memorialize sex workers who have died and honor those are missing. At 8:15 there will be be a vigil in The Center parking lot followed by a march toward the strip, holding signs and carrying red umbrellas. Masks will be available for those who wish them. After the march, we will return to Commercial Center for Thai food.

Prostitutes of Ottawa-Gatineau Work Educate & Resist (POWER) will be holding a rally and march starting at 5:00 and concluding with a reception at 5:30 at the Jack Purcell Community Centre. The rally will assemble at 5pm at the Human Rights Monument on the corner of Elgin and Lisgar, and the march will proceed to the Elgin Street police station.
